I was talking with someone this weekend about my drone hobby when she made mention of a recent story of someone using a drone to drop off a life preserver during a rescue. After doing a Google search, I found this article "New lifesaving drone rescues swimmers by dropping inflatable pod". While I have some modest ideas of how to use drones for rescuing, it's simply amazing what they are already capable of. I can imagine in the future there will be automated rescue drones potentially supplement [dare I say replacing?!] first responders. Or maybe they can make a drone to help with mountain climbing rescues where manned vehicles are unable to respond. Every winter you hear stories on the news of people needing rescue on mountain climbing adventures!
